**Edit to Wiki information: The time between the end of the battle at Windknight’s Lot and Erina and Jonathan’s wedding is actually 2 months (Dio being defeated on December 1, 1888, and Erina and Jonathan marrying on February 2, 1889).

Personality: Erina was raised a proper Victorian-era lady. Like any young lady of means this meant she was educated, though it appears she was trained beyond the typical “minimal” requirement considered normal for a Victorian girl. Erina was by herself often as a child and dealt with some suspicion to her father’s practice (after a boy deemed him a ‘quack’), which visibly bothered her. According to two of her bullies, she is a well-known crybaby.

Erina is curious of others, going so far as to stalk admire Jonathan from afar when he saved her from bullies, but also taking the time to clean his dirty handkerchief and offering him fruit to cheer him up. She is very observant, noticing Jonathan’s loneliness as a child, and then later when she is a nurse.

Her choices after Dio’s stolen kiss also show a sense of bold, sly, fury. By showing Dio that he was less worthy to be on her lips by cleaning them with dirty puddle water, despite knowing that very near to the scene of the crime was a much cleaner river, Erina extracted a blow against Dio’s pride. The move was calculated enough to get a rise out of Dio, but that it did at all spoke volumes of her quick-thinking in that moment. She was still overwhelmed with the impropriety of his actions in the end, however, and avoided Jonathan as she felt herself dishonored by Dio’s interaction.

As she grew into adulthood, these same traits were polished. Her words are often carefully chosen and measured (but moreso as an adult than a child), and her presence brings about a sense of calm for those she devotes her time to. Despite everything that could have had far worse consequences on her psyche as an adult, Erina retained her kindness and care for others (seen in her work as a nurse and willingness to help those in need). She has no lack of devotion for her loved ones; she loves her family and Jonathan, and would do anything to keep them safe and well with everything in her power. To this end, Erina’s goodness and kindness are sometimes to her detriment, as she can let herself grow worn out, or even harm her own body to keep working on a worthy cause.

She became more vocal as an adult woman as well, chastising Baron Zeppeli when he appeared to harm Jonathan. She is protective of him, and to this end her own stubborn and determined nature is clear as she allowed no one else into the room to see Jonathan while he was being tended to and coldly turned away even his friend, Speedwagon. Erina spent perhaps more time than necessary with him as he recovered, and that spread even into taking walks with him during his recovery (and ostensibly deepening their relationship by talking).

Erina is rather romantic as an adult, though she tends to keep that toned down some when in public spaces where such things may appear unsightly or unseemly. Still, privately, she is sentimental and passionate, as exampled in her crying over a pair of birds on her ill-fated honeymoon because she thought one had lost its flock.

At the end of part one, she states that she would rather die with Jonathan than escape a doomed ship and be without him. She must be convinced to live at Jonathan’s request if only for the only other survivor of Dio’s attack, an infant protected by her mother at the cost of the mother’s life. Though Erina acquiesces to his request, this is done with great reluctance on her part. (So great is her passion, love, and adoration of her husband, Erina marries no one after him, fully choosing to be a widow.)
